The city manager updated the council on a leased downtown facility intended to become a learning center for youth and community classes. Staff discovered structural damage during remodeling and have worked with engineers, the contractor and the property owner to make the building safe; the Community Redevelopment Agency approved the project at the prior meeting and staff expects progress to resume after safety concerns are resolved.
Separately, staff said a newly installed Main Street speaker system is installed but not meeting performance standards. The city is working with the manufacturer and third-party technicians to resolve an internet-based connectivity problem so the system can support future downtown events.
