The Crestview City Council approved staff to execute a $50,000 state grant to develop a strategic economic development plan intended to assess workforce needs, land-use assets, marketing and implementation steps. Staff said the grant will reimburse costs to prepare the plan and that the planning scope includes a kickoff meeting, economic assessment, stakeholder engagement and an action plan.
Staff described the grant as part of a state program (Community Partnerships Technical Assistance) and asked the council to authorize execution of the agreement so work can proceed; a councilmember moved to accept the grant and the council approved the request 4-0 (motion by Miss Allison; second by Mr. Hayes). Staff said the immediate financial impact is neutral because the city will be reimbursed for eligible costs, and that executing the project should help guide future city actions on workforce and commercial development.
