Airport board eyes letter to County Commission over unreliable ASOS weather reports

At its Jan. 6 meeting the White Pine County Airport Advisory Board discussed repeated problems with the automated weather-observation system and agreed to prepare a letter for the County Commission asking for action on maintenance and faster repairs. Mike Coster said the board wants the Commission to press for regular maintenance and expedited service.
Tim Parish raised safety concerns and said the system was producing incorrect weather readings, stressing the importance of accurate information "so med flights can legally arrive or flight out." Board members discussed reporting options; Ken Moen said one option is to contact the FAA Hotline at 866-835-5322 or submit an online form. The board recommended a draft letter be placed on the County Commission agenda for consideration.
