Marshall County board approves multi-year salary schedule for elected and appointed officials

On May 14 the Marshall County Board approved a salary schedule for elected and appointed officials (motion #26-15). The motion was moved by Perona, seconded by Minnick and passed by roll call vote 12 yes, 0 no, 0 absent.

The adopted schedule in the meeting record sets the following salaries: for FY2027 $75,584 (an 18.1% increase), FY2028 $80,119.04 (6% increase), FY2029 $84,926.14 (6% increase) and FY2030 $90,021.71 (6% increase). During discussion Chairperson Travis McGlasson explained timing constraints (salaries must be set 180 days prior to an elected official taking office) and described internal equity concerns, noting that department heads have seen little increase since 2012. Board member McLaughlin said, "we need to take care of the employee department heads... they are all 28 plus year employees," and emphasized that county operations such as tax collection are functioning without complaint.
