The Whitman County Board of Adjustment voted on March 12 to approve Variance 26-001 for applicant 2 G M LLC to reduce the westerly side setback to 10 feet for a proposed building at 5951 Pullman Airport Road in Pullman.
Board chair Larry Cochran read the application and exhibits, detailing that the site lies in the North Pullman–Moscow Corridor District and that the applicant seeks relief from the required 20-foot side setback. The board noted that the adjoining landowner provided a letter of consent to the reduced setback and that the legal notice was published and mailed to adjacent landowners; no public comments were received during the notice period.
During the hearing the board addressed the four required variance criteria — special circumstances of the property, lack of detriment to public health/safety/welfare or neighboring properties, the variance not being required solely because of actions by the applicant, and that it was not solely for economic benefit — and each member affirmed the criteria were satisfied. A motion to approve the variance was moved and seconded and members voiced their approval; the clerk announced, “Variance 26-001 is approved.”
The approved variance reduces the westerly side setback to 10 feet for the proposed building and is recorded in the board’s action minutes; the board concluded the hearing and adjourned with no further public comment.
