Bond County board discusses budget outlook, approves meeting schedule and community requests

Boardmembers reviewed the 2024–25 budget and levy (no change to levy), discussed revenue needs to avoid a deficit, amended Dec. 3 meeting time, approved the Court Holiday schedule and permitted a Salvation Army thermometer on the courthouse lawn Nov. 17–Jan. 12.
County Clerk Meg Sybert reported that the Sheriff's Department and Probation adjusted their budgets for 2024–25 but that there were no changes to the levy. Treasurer Colleen Camp told the Board the county needs more revenue to avoid a deficit; she estimated the fiscal year ending Nov. 30 may be about even or slightly positive.
The Board amended the Dec. 3 meeting time to 4:00 p.m. and approved the County Board meeting schedule for 2024–25 and the Court Holiday schedule. The Board also approved a request to place a Salvation Army thermometer in the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn from Nov. 17, 2024 through Jan. 12, 2025. All motions carried on unanimous roll call votes.
