Zoning Administrator Brad Criner asked the Bond County Board on Nov. 6 to approve hiring an outside individual on a contract basis to publish Zoning Board public notices and send letters to adjoining landowners for a fee of $100 per meeting. The request drew questions about procurement and local preference for service providers.
State's Attorney Dora Mann advised the Board to review the applicable statute before setting any hiring or residency requirement. On that advice the Board tabled the proposal, with a motion by Wes Pourchot and second by Jacob Rayl; the motion passed on a 5-0 roll call vote. The tabling means the Board will revisit the request after the State's Attorney provides guidance on whether the county may require or prioritize a local resident for the role.
