During the meeting, Commissioner Jeff Rehkemper raised an alternative fee schedule for commercial solar installations, noting that neighboring counties charge ‘‘10 cents per square foot.’’ He suggested that raising the permit fee in Bond County could generate meaningful revenue, which could be placed in a separate account so the interest earned could support upcoming county projects.
The Board discussed the proposal but did not adopt a new fee schedule at the Oct. 1 meeting. No ordinance, fee schedule text, or revenue estimate was presented in the meeting record; any formal change would require additional staff work and a future Board action.
