Commissioner Chris Siler moved to “set the bond amount at $300.00 if anyone would like to request a recount,” and the motion passed unanimously. The bond establishes the deposit required to initiate a recount under local procedure and was intended to be applied uniformly to any recount petitions filed during the statutory window.
County Clerk Brenda Wiseman presented staff reports and balloting paperwork during the canvass. At 10:45 a.m. the Commission voted to declare the results of the May 12 Primary Election; the motion to declare results was moved by Commissioner Siler and approved unanimously. Clerk Wiseman stated that declaring the results begins the 48-hour period for a recount and said the Commission will reconvene to certify results after other counties finish their canvass steps.
