Franklin County board appoints three to Rend Lake Area Tourism Council

The Franklin County Board appointed three members to the Rend Lake Area Tourism Council during a special meeting Jan. 5 in Benton.
Chairman Neil Hargis said the board could fill four seats but was still awaiting a response from one nominee, and recommended three appointments so the council could "continue to work on the grants." Hargis recommended Stacy Minor to complete the unexpired term of Kellie Hicks (ending Dec. 31, 2027), reappointed Kathy Crawford to a new three‑year term through Dec. 31, 2028, and nominated Mark Atkins to a new three‑year term through Dec. 31, 2028.
Curtis Overton moved to approve the three appointments and Angela Evans seconded the motion. On roll call, Dave Bartoni, Angela Evans, J. Larry Miller, Curtis Overton, Kevin Weston, Brad Wilson and Neil Hargis voted yes; Ray Minor abstained. The motion carried. The minutes note that Kellie Hicks' resignation letter was made part of the record.
Board members discussed briefly how many council members would be seated after the appointments; when Board Member J. Larry Miller asked, "How many board members would that make at this time?" Chairman Hargis replied, "Six." Miller also requested that staff circulate an email list of board members; Hargis agreed.
The special meeting included roll call and the pledge of allegiance, and there were no public comments. The board adjourned immediately after the appointments.
