The Tabiona Town Council agreed to accept the county's centennial allocation and to donate the funds to the town Parks and Recreation department for the 2026 July 4 celebration. Committee member (speaker 3) moved that the county money be used for the July 4, 2026 (250th) celebration and be donated to Parks & Rec; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Council discussed that the county divides centennial funds by population and that Tabiona's share will be modest (staff and members discussed an estimated $200200 range or a possible $600 baseline divided among towns). Members suggested the Parks and Rec account could use the money for fireworks or other celebration expenses, and one council member proposed creating a dedicated fireworks account to help improve event funding in future years.
