Commission approves USDA road agreement, JAG pass-through and other grant items

At its Aug. 14 meeting the Torrance County Commission approved several intergovernmental and grant items on the consent agenda.
The board approved a Road Project Agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service for five annual rounds of surface blading and ditch maintenance on National Forest Service Roads 321 and 55 for $1,120. The commission also approved a 2023 Edward Byrne JAG subgrantee agreement through the Department of Public Safety for $12,874 to support overtime for specified law-enforcement activities.
Separately, the Commission approved a retroactive purchase order for Claunch-Pinto Soil and Water Conservation District for $19,500 to cover consultant work on the Community Wildfire Protection Plan after staff confirmed the grant reimbursement was received. Commissioner votes on these routine grants and agreements were recorded as unanimous where applicable.
