Council also discussed a contractor bid that reportedly asked $30,000 to pave the landowner (back) side of one sidewalk section; the chair refused that price and directed staff to seek alternatives. "He wanted $30,000 to pay that," the chair said, "and I said, absolutely not. We're not putting another red cent into them." Members agreed to post signs during refinishing and to complete a contractor punch list before equipment left the site.
The council's ratification was carried by motion and voice vote; staff were directed to finalize punch-list work with the contractor and to explore other options for the small back-side paving segment rather than accepting the quoted price.
