The Tabiona Town Council voted to change the community center closing time to 2:00 a.m., responding to resident requests for later access and reports that doors were being propped overnight.
Council member Dallas moved the change, saying, "I make a motion that we change the hours at the community center ... 10PM to 2AM being the closing time." Council members voted in favor by voice vote. Jacob, a community staff member, reported receiving a text that "there is some people wanting to see about getting that back opened up 24 hours" and said the facility's cameras had alerted staff when doors had been propped.
Supporters argued later hours would benefit residents with nonstandard work schedules, while others urged measured steps because past vandalism and bathroom damage had been a concern when the facility was open overnight. The council approved the amended hours and directed staff to implement the change and update signage and notifications to members.
The decision is an operational change (staff-level implementation) rather than a new ordinance; staff will manage access and enforcement under existing facility rules.
