Commission approves emergency equipment purchases and land donation for ambulance barn

At its Feb. 17 regular meeting, the Lincoln County Commission approved several items intended to strengthen emergency response capacity and infrastructure.
The Commission approved a request from the Glencoe Volunteer Fire Department to purchase a crew-cab Chevrolet diesel command/utility vehicle with upfit and equipment for $97,052.66. Separately, Lincoln County EMS received authorization to purchase a six-passenger UTV using EMS mill-levy funds; the EMS director requested $51,000 for the vehicle, which includes cab heating/air conditioning and a stretcher extension for patient movement in difficult terrain. Both motions passed by unanimous roll-call votes.
The Board also authorized the County Manager to enter juvenile detention housing agreements with out-of-county facilities when needed; Sheriff Wood stated there are three juvenile detention facilities in the state available for contracting. Finally, the Commission accepted a land donation from the Village of Carrizozo intended for construction of a new ambulance barn and authorized staff to complete conveyance and filing to proceed with construction planning.
