Multiple procedural actions and motions were recorded in the Jan. 8 minutes. The Board of Supervisors voted to approve its agenda on a motion by Supervisor John Newman, seconded by Supervisor Robert Saunders Jr.; the vote was unanimous (Mr. Hamlet – aye; Mr. Newman – aye; Mrs. Tyree – aye; Mr. Stimpson – aye; Mr. Saunders – aye). The Planning Commission and Economic Development Authority likewise approved their respective agendas by recorded motions.
Later in the meeting the Board voted to enter a closed session pursuant to Va. Code § 2.2‑3711(A)(1) to consider and interview a prospective candidate for employment. The Board reconvened in open session and adopted the required certification stating that only lawfully exempted business was discussed and that no action was taken in closed session. The Board adjourned the meeting on a motion by Supervisor Paul Stimpson, seconded by Supervisor Robert Saunders Jr., carried unanimously; the minutes record the next monthly meeting as January 13, 2026.
