Cumberland supervisors adopt remote-attendance policy with limits

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors adopted a Remote Attendance Policy on Jan. 13, 2026 that permits members to participate electronically under specified circumstances: temporary or permanent disability, a family medical condition requiring care, a principal residence more than 60 miles from the meeting location, or an emergency/personal matter.
The policy requires a physical quorum at the meeting location, that the remote participant's voice be audible to all present, and that a majority of the in-person members approve the remote participation. Remote participation for emergency or personal matters is limited to two meetings or 25% of the meetings per calendar year, whichever is greater.
