Council Adopts Ordinance Setting Standards for Cobblestone Road Restorations

The Lilburn City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-663 on Jan. 12, 2026, amending Appendix B, Article 7, Sec. 7.5 of the city code to establish standards and visual details for restoring cobblestone streets following utility-related cuts.
Planning Director Reid Turner said the change would "provide visual details and standards for the restoration of cobblestone roads in the event of street cuts related to utility installations, i.e. fiber, sewer, and water lines." The legal advertising requirement was met and no members of the public spoke for or against the amendment. The Council voted 4-0 to adopt the ordinance.
The ordinance is intended to guide contractors and utility companies on acceptable restoration materials and workmanship where cobblestone streets are affected, reducing the risk of inconsistent repairs that can degrade historic or character streetscapes.
