Randolph County schedules May 18 canvass after smooth primary, clerk says

County Clerk Brenda Wiseman reported to the Randolph County Commission on May 14 that the county's primary election operations proceeded largely without incident and that unofficial results are available at her office. "Early Voting and Election Day went pretty smooth," Wiseman said, adding that occasional machine problems were resolved by poll workers or by county staff on site. The clerk said election-night reporting finished around 10:00 p.m.

Wiseman told the commission the official canvass would be held Monday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m. in the Commission Annex and that the session is open to the public. She said once the canvass and required waiting periods are complete the commission will reconvene to certify results and make them official. Commissioner David Kesling, who served as a poll worker for the election, praised long-serving poll workers and the clerk's staff for quickly answering questions and keeping precincts running, and said he may serve again in the fall.

The clerk did not report any vote-count discrepancies during the meeting. The commission took no formal action on the canvass scheduling beyond the public announcement; the canvass time and location were presented as public information.
