The Board received licensee residency data presented by Brooke Stegmeier as part of the Board/AICPA Rules Committee update. The report showed 49% of active licensees list Washington as their resident state, 15% are resident in other U.S. states, and 36% are international licensees.
Brooke Stegmeier also provided counts for top international countries: Japan (4,532 licensees), South Korea (1,557), Canada (717), China (619), India (596), Hong Kong (450), and Australia (107). Top other U.S. states included California (774), Texas (373), and Oregon (365). The BARC indicated it will develop the data further and consider residency issues as needed.
Board members discussed potential follow-up work to better understand residency implications for regulation, mobility, and peer-review oversight.
