Ross appoints Raul Ernesto Aguilar as police chief; Pata to retire April 30

The Ross Town Council on April 2 adopted Resolution No. 2618 approving a three‑year Police Chief employment agreement with Raul Ernesto Aguilar, effective April 27, 2026, through June 30, 2029, and amended the Town salary schedule.
Town Manager Christa Johnson said Aguilar was selected following a comprehensive recruitment and described his law enforcement background with the San Rafael Police Department and the College of Marin. After the resolution passed unanimously 4‑0‑1 (Council Member Mathew Salter absent), Johnson introduced Aguilar, and he thanked the Council and staff: "I am committed to leading the department with integrity, accountability and transparency, and with a deep commitment to our shared goals," Aguilar said. The council also announced a ceremonial swearing‑in at the April 29 meeting and a reception on April 30 to honor retiring Chief Raffaello Pata. Mayor McMillan noted Pata’s five years of service to Ross and invited the community to the retirement coffee.
