State Board grants and denies multiple day-to-hour calendar waivers for 2026–2027 school year

The Oklahoma State Board of Education on March 26, 2026, ruled on day-to-hour calendar waiver requests that would permit fewer than 166 instructional days in the 2026–2027 school year. Board Member Mike Tinney moved to allow waivers for the schools listed as agenda items 8C, 8E, 8G and 8H; Board Member Wes Nofire seconded and the motion carried with all members voting yes.
Tinney then moved to deny waivers for the schools listed as agenda items 8A, 8B, 8D, 8F, 8I and Bennington Public Schools; Board Member Chris Van Denhende seconded and the motion also passed unanimously. The decisions were recorded with the statutory citation shown on the agenda (70 O.S. § 1-105). The minutes list the allowed and denied agenda-item references but do not include the districts' names or the board's reasoning for each individual waiver in the text of the minutes.
