County developmental‑disabilities official briefs council ahead of levy renewal

Jeramee Caraballo, Director of Medicaid and Data Analytics at the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, told the Olmsted Falls City Council on Oct. 28 that the county agency provided services last year to 154 residents of Olmsted Falls and about 15,000 people across Cuyahoga County. "This is a 20% increase of people served compared to 2005," Caraballo said, and he described programs supported by levy funding such as early intervention for children 0–3, therapies including occupational and speech services, school consultative supports, and transition and employment services for young adults.
Caraballo noted the last operating levy was passed in 2005 and that the agency now seeks voter approval for a renewal to continue services. He said the agency has invested in community access by awarding nearly $1 million in grants since 2021 to more than 50 libraries, arts, culture and recreation sites, and that this year it awarded $180,000 in community grants. The briefing served as both information and an outreach invitation: Caraballo said the agency "would welcome the opportunity to talk more of how we can best support the residents of Olmsted Falls." The council did not take formal action on the matter during the meeting.
