Olmsted Falls approves Pineway-Mapleway drainage project request to NEORSD after cost revisions

Council on Sept. 9 adopted Ordinance 48-2025 asking the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) to approve a budget modification so the Pineway-Mapleway drainage improvement project can go out to bid. Service Director Joe Borczuch told council the project budget is approximately $1 million but could come in lower; the earlier planning estimate of about $631,000 increased to roughly $998,000 after full engineering and surveying revealed utility conflicts that raised the scope and cost.
Borczuch said the citys community cost-share account with NEORSD currently holds about $600,000 and that the city collects roughly $100,000 each year toward the program; using those funds will reduce the balance and delay future community cost-share availability until the project is paid. He said the city expects to have contract bids by mid-October after the bid period (out by about Oct. 18 for 2–3 weeks). "When they originally went out for the overview look the $631,000 was the original price... there were a lot of issues with other utilities being in the way which drove the costs up," Borczuch said.
Council adopted the ordinance by voice vote and poll (5 ayes, 0 nays). The ordinance authorizes the mayor to execute the agreement with NEORSD and commits the city to the project subject to NEORSD approval and the bid process.
