NETC hears state funding cuts and dues reassessment; NPM receives $500,000 CPB grant

Stacey Decker told commissioners that the State of Nebraska reduced funding by $160,000 for this fiscal year and is projecting a $330,000 reduction in the next fiscal year. Decker said the initial cut request had been for 10 percent but the enacted cut was around 3 percent this year; NPM plans to seek additional operational support from the legislature for the Omaha station and expanded legislative coverage.
Decker also reported that PBS denied a dues reduction request for 2027 and that NPR will reassess its dues. Separately, NPM received a $500,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for the Great Plains Alliance Channel, with Chad Davis named as project manager for the grant-funded effort.
