General Manager Stacey Decker reported that Nebraska Public Media has submitted the KOOO application to the Federal Communications Commission and expects the station may be approved sooner than anticipated. The Foundation donated $1,500,000 to NETC to support acquisition of KOOO, and Decker said a soft launch is planned with a full launch around June 15; four positions will be hired initially to support the Omaha station launch.
Engineering and production teams are preparing temporary studios for the statewide and Omaha services; a small Lincoln studio will serve as Omaha’s initial headquarters for production and automation until the Omaha studio is established. Pending FCC approval, NPM intends to place HD2 programming on KOOO during initial operations.
