Council hears urgent options to restore Tabiona drinking-water telemetry

Town staff updated the council that the town's SCADA monitoring system for springs and tanks is malfunctioning and vendor access to the existing cloud host is unreliable. Staff member (S3) said the vendor proposed two repair/hosting paths: a full hardware and installation option and a cloud-hosting/cell-modem option that carries a recurring service fee.
"Installing and programming is gonna cost us $22,000," Staff member (S3) said when presenting the full-install option, and later summarized the lower-cost cloud option as about $13,073 with parts and labor and the expectation of a monthly service fee. S3 also provided a vendor contact (Steve Seacrest) and encouraged council members to call him for technical details before committing to purchase.
S3 told the council that the existing system has intermittent transmissions (including flood alerts) but that the cloud account access may be disabled, preventing reliable monitoring. Committee member (S2) noted the cloud option can remain usable if it becomes outdated, while S3 warned that buying hardware outright could return the town to the same problem in a few years. The council did not take a formal procurement vote during the meeting and directed staff to pursue vendor follow-up.
