State Board approves April minutes, honors staff and delegates, sets next meeting for June 25

The Oklahoma State Board of Education began its May 21 session with roll call and a quorum confirmation by Executive Secretary Jennifer Hembree. Board Member Brian Bobek moved to approve the April 23, 2026 minutes; Board Member Ryan Deatherage seconded and the motion carried with unanimous yes votes recorded.
State Superintendent Lindel Fields recognized Vickie Hale for 30 years of service at the State Department of Education and named Jennifer Weber employee of the month. The agenda also listed updates from Deputy Superintendents Romel Muex-Pullen (Instruction) and Kristen Stephens (Operations) as informational items. No new business was introduced under Title 25 O.S. § 311. The board adjourned after a motion by Board Member Ryan Deatherage; Board Member Brian Bobek seconded. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 25, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the State Department of Education.
