The Oklahoma State Board of Education met April 23, 2026, in Oklahoma City and recorded unanimous votes on a slate of administrative and disciplinary items. Board members approved an emergency waiver for Beggs Public Schools under 70 O.S. § 1-109(E); they also approved multiple day-to-hour calendar waivers for 2026–2027 and limited alternative-education abbreviated day waivers to one year rather than the three years requested.
The board also approved accreditation for A Step Above Learning Center pursuant to 70 O.S. § 3-104(A)(7) and OAC 210:35-33-1, authorized exceptions to permit emergency (provisional) teacher certificates under 70 O.S. 6-187(G), accepted findings of fact and conclusions of law from an administrative law judge, and took multiple certificate actions including revocations and a dismissal/reinstatement. Each motion recorded a mover and a second (for example, "Board Member Bobek moved to approve the emergency waiver submitted by Beggs Public Schools"), and the minutes show all votes carried with the same members voting in favor: Mr. Ryan Deatherage, Mr. Chris Van Denhende, Mr. Brian Bobek, Ms. Becky Carson, Mr. Mike Tinney, and State Superintendent Lindel Fields. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 28, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
