Board considers repurposing rehab funds for a $45,000 bore under Highway 321 to loop water lines

During staff reports City Administrator Kim Rogers said West Hill Ave. and Filo Ct. are the remaining locations for sewer completion, with roughly 13 homes left to connect. She reported funds had been set aside for water rehabilitation on Front, Pine and Spring Streets but recommended using the money to bore under Highway 321 at Union Grove to loop the system and reduce the risk of large outages.
Kim Rogers said the bore would cost about $45,000 and that existing allocations would still leave enough money to rehabilitate at least one of the downtown streets. Staff also noted that lines are already looped at Vernie Lee Rd., and Mayor Cardwell reminded members to account for remaining rehab projects during the upcoming budget workshop. No formal motion to reallocate funds was recorded in the minutes.
