At the June 25 meeting, Chief Operating Officer Peter Clowney said Nebraska Public Media is partnering with a consortium led by PBS SoCal and KET to apply for the Ready to Learn grant, which was announced May 8 by the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services. Clowley said submissions are due July 8.
Clowney reported that in-service teacher feedback from classroom piloting of materials finished in late spring and that overall feedback was highly positive; staff will refine materials and finalize a release timeline over the summer. Education plans include content aimed at middle- and high-school students focused on biologically unique landscapes and expanding youth-led content next season.
The grant opportunity is tied to NET’s education priorities and will involve cross-system partnerships; the Commission was informed as part of the Education, Labs, Human Resources and Research report.
