Nebraska Public Media’s Omaha radio service went live as 101.9 KOOO–LaVista/Omaha, with a soft launch on May 12 and a full program schedule launch on June 15, the Commission heard on June 25. The transition included moving The KEG transmitter to Nebraska Public Media Omaha and a period of technical testing to ensure signal and automation systems worked as intended.
Chief Content Officer Nancy Finken and the engineering team reported that the soft launch allowed staff to exercise the systems, and that radio automation upgrades—including linking the Radio Traffic system to automation—reduced manual steps in on-air operations. The station debut was paired with public messaging and a May 26 public announcement and press release.
The launch is part of NET’s stated 2027 priority to increase service, presence, and impact in Omaha and to expand on-the-ground events and programming in the metro area.
