Council approves employment agreement for new police chief

The council unanimously adopted Resolution 2618 approving an employment agreement with Raul Ernesto Aguilar to serve as Ross police chief from April 27, 2026, through June 30, 2029, and amended the salary schedule accordingly. Town Manager Krista Johnson (S2) summarized the recruitment process and recommended Aguilar as the top candidate, noting his more than 25 years of Marin County law-enforcement experience and recent role as chief of police and director of safety at the College of Marin.
Following the council's vote, staff said the new chief will begin work April 27 and that a swearing-in and opportunities to thank the outgoing chief will be scheduled. Council members and staff thanked outgoing Chief Ralph Pata for five years of service and invited the community to a morning coffee on April 30; the council also noted plans for a welcome and swearing-in at an upcoming meeting.
