Commission on African American Affairs hears reparations RFP update, plans SNAP advocacy meeting

Executive Director Edward O. Prince updated the Commission on African American Affairs on Nov. 7, saying the "reparations RFP process [is] moving along well" and that Commerce will join the commission at its Jan. 16 meeting to give a comprehensive update. He said the commission plans a national convening of other African American commissions to coordinate outreach and advocacy around SNAP benefits if a federal government shutdown affects holiday assistance programs.
Prince also said the commission met with Pastor Paul Benz of the Faith Action Network to prepare priorities for the upcoming legislative session and confirmed that African American Legislative Day will again be held on Presidents Day at the State Capitol. No formal actions were taken on the topics during the meeting; presenters will return with updates at future meetings.
