Commission places several ordinances and a hazards-mitigation resolution on the docket; SOPEC grant ordinance adopted
Summary
The Commission placed Ordinances O2026-06 and O2026-07 on first reading, placed Resolution R2026-01 on first reading (All-Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan), and adopted Ordinance O2026-05 on second reading to accept a SOPEC community grant.
During the special session the Commission advanced several legislative items. Member Dennis L. Kirby moved to place Resolution No. R2026-01 (All-Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan prepared by a core group of Gallia County entities) on first reading; Member Michael D. Carter seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
On ordinances, the Commission adopted Ordinance No. O2026-05 on second reading to apply for and accept a community grant from the Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC) after a motion by Member Michael W. Brown and a roll call vote that recorded all yes votes. The Commission also placed Ordinance No. O2026-06 (accepting/rejecting bids for asphalt, limestone and bedding sand) and Ordinance No. O2026-07 (vacating a certain alley between Eastern Avenue and Chatham Street) on first reading; both motions passed by voice vote with no opposing votes recorded.
No ordinances requiring final adoption beyond O2026-05 were adopted at the special session; O2026-06 and O2026-07 will proceed through the standard ordinance-reading schedule and any required hearings or staff reports.
