County backs Project Maple Leaf reuse grant; company pledges 47 jobs, $1.95M investment

Cleveland County commissioners unanimously approved Sept. 16 a resolution supporting Project Maple Leaf’s application for the Department of Commerce Rural Division Building Reuse Grant and recommended the county serve as the local government applicant.
Meeting materials state Project Maple Leaf would create 47 new jobs with an average wage of $52,319 and a capital investment of $1,950,000 over three years. Economic development staff recommended county support to improve the project’s competitiveness for the state grant; commissioners approved the resolution without public comment.
County officials said the jobs would pay above the county average wage listed in materials and that approving the resolution would allow staff to proceed with the grant application process.
