Board approves $819,000 opioid-settlement allocation for Health Department programs

The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Sept. 16 a budget amendment (BNA #016) allocating $819,000 in Opioid Settlement funds to the Health Department, breaking the total into salaries, benefits, supplies, contracted services, advertising, awards and contingency.
The amendment lists $257,325 for salary, $15,954 for social security, $36,926 for retirement, and a $143,730 emergency contingency line item; the allocation also includes $89,124 for contracted services and $117,000 for advertising and promotions. County staff said the allocation aligns with the FY26 Opioid Resolution the board approved in June.
Commissioners made the amendment part of the consent motion approving multiple departmental BNAs. No public comment was offered. The action is intended to fund prevention, treatment and outreach activities identified by the Health Department.
