Applicant explains alley vacation for planned express oil-change site
Summary
An applicant representative told the Gallipolis City Commission that clients purchasing properties on either side of a short alley between Eastern and Chatham want it vacated and combined to build an express oil-change; the ordinance was placed on first reading and affected residents signed consent forms.
Josh Bodimer addressed the Commission to explain an ordinance on the agenda that would vacate a portion of the alley parallel to and between Eastern Avenue and Chatham Street. He said his clients are purchasing the properties on each side of the alley and "would like to join them into one piece of property in the hopes of building an express oil change business." Bodimer stated the parcel has been surveyed and that "there are no utilities currently under that portion of the alley," and said consent forms from affected residents were delivered to the City Solicitor.
The Commission placed Ordinance No. O2026-07 on first reading after a motion by Member Dennis L. Kirby and a second by Member Michael D. Carter. No public hearing or final vote occurred at the special session; the ordinance remains at first-reading status and will return to the Commission for further consideration under the standard ordinance process.
