Residents press city for work session on Hedgewood Drive stability
Summary
Residents urged the Gallipolis City Commission to address slope and drainage issues on Hedgewood Drive; the City Manager said geotechnical and core-sample reports were found and recommended a dedicated work session with residents and engineers to explore options.
Jim Osborne told the Commission he was "here to make sure Hedgewood Drive was not forgotten," and said researcher Terry McKinniss has older research on the site that he would share with the city.
City Manager John Westfall said he located a geo-technical report and a core sampling report and sent them to the city’s engineer and the County Engineer for review. Fulks proposed a stand-alone work session with Hedgewood Drive residents and engineers so the city could have more time to explore options rather than addressing the matter during a regular Commission business meeting.
Residents also raised related drainage concerns on Oakwood Drive; Lynne Frazier described persistent runoff that she said is affecting her property. The Commission did not take formal action at the special session but agreed to schedule the suggested work session and to collect the documentation the City Manager identified.
