Board honors audit director, meets in closed session and adopts merit-based resolution 14–2
Summary
The Board adopted Resolution HC-4 honoring Kent B. Erdahl, approved a one-time 10% performance bonus for him, convened a closed session on personnel and legal matters, and adopted Resolution HC-3 by roll-call vote 14–2.
The Board of Visitors unanimously adopted Resolution HC-4 to recognize Kent B. Erdahl ’83, P’20, Director of Internal Audit, for a decade of service and contributions to the university’s audit program. Mr. Huebner read the resolution praising Erdahl’s leadership; the text included the Ben Hogan maxim, “The most important shot in golf is the next one,” which was part of the tribute read to the Board.
Later the Board convened a closed session under Virginia Code §2.2-3711.A.1, A.7, A.8 and A.9 to evaluate performance of senior officers, consult with counsel about probable litigation and federal regulatory compliance, and discuss fundraising activities. After reconvening, the Board certified the closed session and adopted Resolution HC-3 (Resolution of the Board of Visitors on Merit-Based Excellence, Student Opportunity and Freedom from Discrimination) by roll-call vote 14–2; the minutes record two opposing votes and a subsequent unanimous voice vote approving a one-time 10% of base-salary performance bonus for Mr. Erdahl.
