Committee approves $27,115 extra for lightning protection after original allowance proved insufficient

Committee members approved Change Order Request COR#12 after Market & Johnson representative John Nuzum told the committee that lightning protection had not been fully designed at bid and the $50,000 allowance was insufficient. The county will use its current contractor for the work and the additional cost is $27,115 from owner’s contingency within Market & Johnson’s contract.
The motion (moved by N. Gulbranson, seconded by S. Bjork) carried unanimously. Committee members accepted the use of the county’s contractor and recorded that the allowance shortfall required a contingency draw; no alternative funding source was identified in the minutes.
