During public comment on Oct. 21, Deanna Kristen of 218 Eagle Gold Drive in Cherryville presented photos to commissioners of a dog she said had been badly injured and in need of medical care. Kristen told the Board she was frustrated that "Cleveland County has no licensing or fee requirements for pet owners" and argued that absence of a licensing program adversely affects the county's dog population and community welfare.
Chairman Gordon received the photos and the Board heard the comment during the public-comment portion of the meeting; no formal action was taken during the session. The comment was recorded in the minutes and may be referred to staff for follow-up if commissioners request more information in a future meeting.
