Commissioners approve routine consent items and several budget amendments
Summary
At its Oct. 21 meeting the Board unanimously approved minutes, tax reports, abatements and supplements, refunds, multiple budget amendments (library, sheriff, E-911, Board of Elections, DAV roof), added depositories, and finalized the 2026 meeting schedule.
Cleveland County commissioners processed a full consent agenda on Oct. 21, approving the Sept. 16 meeting minutes, the Tax Collector’s September 2025 report, tax abatements and supplements, and a pending refund of $1,216.24 for Janet Vestal attributed to a clerical error. The Board approved late applications for exemption/exclusion/deferral under N.C. Gen. Stat. §105-282.1 and accepted the finance department’s internal budget transfer summary for Sept. 6–Oct. 10, 2025.
The Board also approved several budget amendments: Library BNA #018 to appropriate $6,183.02 in donated funds; Sheriff’s BNA #019 allocating $11,188 in federal forfeiture funds for SERT equipment; E-911 BNA #020 moving $368,181 into the E-911 Center capital project; Board of Elections BNA #021 for $280,000 related to a proposed Hoke Enterprises change order; and BNA #022 to provide $32,575 toward $65,150 for a DAV roof replacement. Commissioners unanimously approved adding U.S. Bank and the North Carolina Investment Pool as official depositories to complement HomeTrust Bank and NCCMT and approved the 2026 meeting schedule.
