Multiple residents oppose sale or lease of county bowling alley, raise displacement concerns

Jed Watkins said the planned sale of LRA property would displace residents and businesses, telling the Board that "40 individuals will be displaced" and that taxes would be lost if businesses relocate. The meeting record shows no public‑hearing requirement was cited for the particular lease question; County Attorney N. Garrison Elder confirmed the County has the authority to lease property without a public hearing.
The Board did not take action on the public comments during the meeting. Vice Chairman George G. Toth recessed the meeting after the public comments and the Board reconvened following a thirteen‑minute break.
