SOPEC offers fixed electric pricing, $10 per enrolled meter for Gallipolis sustainability grants

Representatives from SOPEC, Mary Nally and Mat Roberts, told the commission on May 5 that the cooperative can provide a fixed 12‑month residential electric rate of 11.26¢ per kWh and is proposing 1–3 year terms for the city's public accounts at roughly 8.6–8.8¢ per kWh.
They reported cumulative savings for city residents and public pricing accounts since prior aggregation—$164,431.26 for residents since January 2021 and $210,006.62 for public pricing accounts since June 2023—and said those savings reflect past trends when AEP standard rates climbed.
Nally and Roberts noted that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved a $10.00 transmission increase that will apply regardless of supplier, and reminded the commission that electric vehicle charging stations are billed under a special tariff and should not be included in the aggregation enrollment for public accounts.
SOPEC said $10 for every enrolled meter would be set aside as a grant for the City to fund sustainability projects. The commission scheduled a May 11 work session to evaluate both the gas and electric proposals further.
