Trebel Energy proposes fixed gas rate to shield Gallipolis residents from winter price spikes
Summary
Trebel Energy presented an addendum proposing a fixed gas rate likely near $0.699 per CCF with a guaranteed cap under $0.799 per CCF; the company said summer standard rates are lower but residents could save in fall and winter. Enrollment remains voluntary and residents may opt out at any time.

Larry Taylor of Trebel Energy told the Gallipolis City Commission that energy prices are expected to rise through 2030 and offered a locked, fixed gas rate to help residents avoid seasonal spikes.
Taylor said the proposed contract would guarantee a rate below $0.799 per CCF and that the company expects to offer a rate around $0.699 per CCF. He noted that summer standard commodity rates from Columbia Gas currently run about $0.48–$0.49 per CCF but that savings would materialize when standard rates increase in the fall and winter months.
Taylor emphasized enrollment is voluntary. "Residents always have the option to opt out or in at any time with no penalties," he said.
Commissioners did not take a final vote; the commission scheduled a work session for May 11 to review gas and electric aggregation options prior to further action.
