City Manager John Westfall reported to the Gallipolis City Commission on Jan. 20, 2026, that work at the Riverfront is advancing: “the seawall is complete,” crews are hauling dirt and staging stone and rebar to prepare for concrete pours, and monuments, benches and swings have been removed as part of site preparation. Vice‑President Dr. William "Bill" Thomas called the special meeting to order and heard the update in the presence of commissioners Brown, Carter and Kirby and staff.
The manager said he had an online coordination meeting with contractors and engineers the same day and that the commission is monitoring the schedule as the project moves into concrete work. The report did not include a new completion date or revised budget figures; follow up on schedule and costs will take place during upcoming budget meetings and project briefings to the commission.
