State Board acts on teacher certification cases: probation, suspension, reinstatement, and ALJ findings accepted

The Oklahoma State Board of Education took several formal actions related to teacher certification and revocation at its Jan. 22, 2026 meeting. Board member Wes Nofire moved to dismiss certain revocation applications with a requirement of a 12-month probation and additional OSDE-specified training for persons named in Agenda Item 11(a); Board Member Becky Carson seconded and the motion carried. Nofire also moved to suspend persons named in Agenda Item 11(b) and set those matters for hearing before an Administrative Law Judge; Carson seconded and that motion also carried.
Separately, Board member Brian Bobek moved to accept a settlement agreement and grant a motion to dismiss revocation proceedings for persons named in Agenda Item 12, reinstating teaching credentials effective as of the date of the order of dismissal; Ryan Deatherage seconded and the motion carried. The Board also voted to accept the Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law from the Administrative Law Judge in OSDE v. Lewis after a motion by Deatherage and second by Bobek; that motion carried unanimously.
