Student Assembly reports referenda backing contract cancellations and 'Firewall for Freedom'

Zoe Wang, outgoing President of the Student Assembly, presented her final report to the Board and highlighted student initiatives on campus accessibility, sustainability, and privacy.
Wang reported that April referenda showed strong student support for canceling university contracts with Flock and ZeroEyes and supported creation of a "Firewall for Freedom" to protect student free speech; she said Student Assembly leaders are facilitating ongoing dialogue with university administration to address surveillance concerns. President Katherine Rowe acknowledged the student advocacy and described continued engagement between student activists and administrators.
The Student Assembly also introduced incoming leaders, including incoming President Nico Giro-Martin, as part of the transition.
