The committee approved change order #08 to perform west side footing soil corrections and backfill with clean fill at an additional cost of $14,360, funded from the project’s soil mitigation allowance. The motion was moved by Scott Bjork and seconded by Jim Ashbach and carried unanimously.
Staff explained there was an existing $50,000 allowance for soil mitigation; after initial excavation the clay in that area would not dry, and the only dry spot was where rock was present. Jason Matthys said he authorized the work to proceed immediately because the corrections needed to be done right away. The approval uses $14,360 of the soil mitigation allowance and leaves an available balance of $35,640.
The committee’s approval allows site work to continue in the west footing area without delay; the civil engineer was not available at the meeting but staff said they would follow up for any additional technical updates.
